CPSC 441 L01 students, Welcome! You are receiving this email as a student registered in "CPSC 441: Computer Networks L01" for Winter 2022. Our first class is Mon January 10 at 12 noon. In a normal world, we would be meeting in-person in EEEL 161, but for the next few weeks at least, we will be doing it via Zoom. The Zoom link that you need is posted in D2L, and the passcode is "441L01time". I will be using the same link for my office hours on Mondays. A few announcements for you prior to the first lecture: (1) My CPSC 441 course Web site is now ready at: http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~carey/CPSC441/ There is a lot of information there about the course. Please make a bookmark of this for your future reference, since it will be the primary resource for the course. (2) The D2L site for CPSC 441 is also ready. My CPSC 441 site has a link to the D2L site, and vice versa. Feel free to bookmark the D2L site too, since we will be using it quite a bit during the semester as well (e.g., assignment submission, grading, communications). (3) Tutorials will start the week of January 10. The tentative schedule of tutorial topics is on the CPSC 441 Web site. The TA information is also there for your information. They will provide their Zoom information to you soon. (4) Please find and watch the 13-minute "Warriors of the Net" video before Monday's class, if you have not seen it before. You can find it in the "Useful Links" area on my CPSC 441 Web site, as well as in D2L. This is usually something we do together in class on the first day, but I don't think it will work very well over Zoom, hence my request for you to view it on your own, please and thanks. (5) I am still hoping for an in-person course (if possible), including lectures, tutorials, demos, office hours, and exams. However, it looks like all of January will be on Zoom. As things change during the semester, we will let you know, and pivot accordingly. Your patience is appreciated. (6) Please make sure you have complied with all the requirements of the U of C's COVID-19 vaccination policy, and don't forget to wear your masks if/when we return to in-person classes. If you are an overseas or remote student unable to attend in-person classes in Calgary, please let me know, so that we can find other ways to help support your remote learning. I look forward to "seeing" many of you in class on Monday. Carey
