Gillivray was born into a middle-class family of crafters, the
youngest of four sons. His parents and three brothers have all
focused their energies on potions and oils, with both parents
alchemist savants, and the brothers all leaning that direction. Gil's
interests are much wider, and his training in various crafts attest to
this.
The teasing Gil suffered in his childhood from his older siblings
has now turned to ridicule for his divergence from the family path.
Feeling that he has been coddled too long in the family home, he is
ready to branch out on his own, perhaps leaving his home of Sharn
and seeing more of Eberron.
