Jayda was born and raised in Silverymoon. Her family was large and extended with many relatives all living under one roof. Jayda being the oldest child was forced to help look after her four younger sisters and three young brothers. Having such responsibility forced upon her at such a young age drove young Jayda to rebel at every chance. Her only escape was when she was able to travel with her father who hired himself out to caravans and merchants as a ranger and scout.
Jayda went along as often as her mother would allow it and was on her way to becoming a ranger like her father. Then at the age of 17 her mother tried to arranged a marriage for Jayda to the son of a wealthy merchant. Instead of accept her fate, Jayda fled Silverymoon and made her way to the city of Luskan. Once there she took up with a gang of thieves and learned the skills needed to be a successful burglar.
Unfortunately, Jayda had the bad luck of breaking into and stealing several valuables from the home of a woman who was the mistress of one of the city's most prominent pirate lords. Jayda fled Luskan just ahead of the pirates and assassins.
She made her way south to Baldur's Gate and there joined with a troupe of performers who were actually a roving thieves guild. They used their performances to distract people as the pickpockets roamed the croed. They took Jayda in and taught her to sing and dance. One woman in particular taught Jayda the first secrets in becoming a shadowdancer.
The troupe travelled as far south as Amn and as far east as the Dalelands and the Dragon Coast. Jayda moved with them gaining experience as the next five years passed. Then in Sembia the troupe was caught in the act, so to speak, and almost the entire group was put to death after a speedy trial. Jayda was one of the few to escape the city guards and after watching the trial and the executions, she slipped out of Sembia.
For the past several months Jayda has worked with her current adventurous friends usually acting as a scout and fighting as bravely as she can. While she genuinely wants to do good and help others, Jayda can sometimes be selfish and has a greedy streak, especially for fine jewelry. She is an exceptionally brave person and fearless almost to the point of reckless. She isn't blood thirsty but she does enjoy the grace and finesse of a good battle and has no qualms about taking the life of an enemy. She's never been one for loyalty but does care a great deal for her newest friends, Tyrell, Axinta and Chazon.
