Master's Thesis Research
The research of my master's thesis is currently going on. The topic is
cooperative distributed machine learning/data mining. I will employ various
techniques on different agents and let them exchange information to cooperate.
The cooperation of the different learning stratagies should increase the
adaptability and efficiency of the learning/mining.
Below are the abstract and presentation slides of my research proposal:
Abstract
Nowadays more and more devices with great capacity for collecting data
are
produced. So much data is created by them that it far exceeds human
ability to
understand it. People are therefore in great need of more powerful
data mining
tools to help discover new knowledge in the huge amounts of data. I
think that
distributed methods are promising approaches that can boost the performance
of data mining applications. This paper discusses briefly current
data mining
applications in business and scientific research. It shows that there
is much
potential of using distributed methods. They reflect some challenging
but promising trends in data mining. My research is to start from one
of the
data
mining applications, and follow a cooperative distributed approach
--- using
cooperative agents to employ data mining techniques. The proposed research
is
presented and a research plan is given.
