I am currently pursuing my studies at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Carey Williamson and Dr. Michael Jacobson. My goal is to complete my PhD studies by Spring of 2009. I enjoy researching security, networking, and cryptography, as well as teaching students. I am a member of the Center for Information Security and Cryptography (CISaC) and Security Professional's Information Exchange (SPIE).

My PhD studies cover the fields of networking, cryptography, distributed alogirthms, and performance evaluations. In particular, my research is focused on anonymous network communication. The goal of anonymous network communication is to protect the identities of the communicating parties so that they can communicate without fear of retribution. Anonymity facilitates the fundamental democratic right of freedom of speech and there are numerous applications that require anonymity: military communication, voting, whistle blowing, counseling, etc. However, it is an open research problem to find a strong anonymous communication scheme with a low-overhead that is suitable for interactive applications on the Internet. The goal of my PhD research is to solve this open research problem by designing a strong anonymous communication scheme that can provide a low overhead.

I am happily married with my wonderful wife Kristy. Our family have been blessed with three wonderful children: Natalie who is 5 years old, Jared who is 3 years old, and Zachary who is 1 year old.
