New Ideas in Optimization
What are term projects about?

    •    Each of you has to work on a project related to topics presented in the lectures (see the Course
Overview document discussed in the first class).

    •    Projects are conducted in teams of maximum two (2) students.

    •    Each of these projects consists of four key components, which you (i.e., your team) will hand in at the
         end of the semester:

    •    Presentation: A short (15-20 minutes) and a longer (30 minutes) in-class presentation about your
         project.

    •    Implementation: The program you have implemented, together with all data necessary to run the
program and a short manual how to use the program. The manual can also be part of the web page.

    •    Demonstration page: On a web page you give a brief description of your program, together
with documentation, online examples, etc. Think of whatever will make your project look attractive to
          people visiting your site.

    •    Final Report: The project has to be described in a 15 to 20 page report, which you (as a group) will
hand in at the end of the semester.

    •    The quality of your research, implementation, presentation and writing as well as punctuality in
meeting deadlines will be as important to the term project as they are in the real world.
