I am currently Senior Technical Product Manager for Calgary Scientific Inc. and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary.
Formerly I was Technical Director of the Grid Research Centre at the University of Calgary and Distributed Systems Architect for WestGrid, a high performance computing consortium of research institutions in Western Canada. Areas of research that I am interested in are distributed computing, high performance computing, grid computing, utility computing, cloud computing, virtualization, Web 2.0, social networking, Semantic Web, parallel discrete event simulation and network simulation/emulation. I received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary in June 2005 and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Physics from the University of Calgary in June 2000.
I like to spend the majority of my free time with my wife Amber, our three daughters, Abigail, Emily and Elora, and our son Matthew. Music has been a big part of my life and I love to play the piano and organ when I get a chance. Other interests include hiking and camping.
