Special Session - CMMSE 2002

Special Session

on

Algorithms and Support in Computer Simulation and High Performance Computation

in conjunction with

2002 International Conference on Computational and
Mathematical Methods in Science and Engineering
(CMMSE 2002)

September 20 - 25 , 2002
ALICANTE - SPAIN

Organized by:

Dr. C. J. Kenneth Tan (SHARCNET, Canada)
Dr. Marina Gavrilova (University of Calgary, Canada)

News: Paper submission is now closed.

Overview

The concentration of this Special Session is in the realms of algorithms and mathematical support for computer simulation and high performance computing. Topics include, but not limited to matrix computations, equation solvers, Monte Carlo methods, sorting algorithms, mathematical methods in computer simulation, issues in
software development and others. (See the list below.)

Implementation of these algorithms may be on systems ranging from loosely-coupled pile of DSP's to workstation clusters to MPP's. Large scale computations are of the special interest for session organizers. This topic offers the opportunity to discuss problems and solutions in
the area, to identify new issues, and to shape future directions for research, as well as to help industrial users apply techniques of computer simulation and large scale high performance computations.

Topics of interest:

  • matrix computations

  • equation solvers

  • Monte Carlo methods

  • random number generators

  • sorting algorithms

  • parallel numerical computations/methods

  • collision detection optimization

  • mathematical methods in computer simulation

  • issues in software development

  • algorithms and support in GIS, robotics, computer graphics, and applied sciences

Paper Submission
