The Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary is hosting the Foundational Methods in Computer Science workshop from Friday 4th June to Sunday 6th June, 2004 at the Kananaskis Field Stations in Alberta, Canada.

The workshop is an informal meeting to bring together researchers in mathematics and computer science with a focus on the applications of category theory in computer science. It is a three day meeting, which starts with a day of tutorials (Friday 4th June) aimed at students and newcomers to category theory, followed by a day and a half of research talks (Saturday 5th June and Sunday 6th June). There will be a series of invited presentations (TBA). The remaining research talks are solicited from the participants.

If you wish to give a talk please let us know by sending a title and abstract to Robin Cockett or Craig Pastro before Friday 21st May.

Student participation at FMCS is particularly encouraged. There are limited funds to provide support for students who wish to attend the workshop (see below).

Travel and accommodation

If you are planning to attend FMCS please try to arrive at the Calgary airport on Thursday 3rd June before 4:00PM (MST). There will be a shuttle service from the Calgary airport to the University of Calgary throughout Thursday afternoon. There will then be a shuttle to the Kananaskis field stations leaving the University at 6:00PM.

There will be an informal reception for participants at the field stations starting at 7:00PM Thursday 3rd June.

Participants will be housed on site: the registration fee will include accommodation and meals.

On Sunday 6th June at 2:00PM there will be a shuttle service back to Calgary (arriving at approximately 3:00PM).
