Starting Out with Python
by Tony Gaddis.
Addison-Wesley, 2009
This book includes material about programming basics and the Python programming language, that should be useful for students being exposed computer programming for the first time.
The textbook is required for CPSC 217 L02, and reading will be assigned from it.
This book is now available at the University of Calgary bookstore. It can also be ordered through Amazon or Chapters.
There are plenty of on-line resources for Python. Here some of the "official" Python references. If you find any others that you find useful, please send them to me for inclusion on this site.
Note that, in CPSC 217, we will be using Python version 2.4.2, as this is what is installed in the Computer Science programming lab.
QuickDraw is a graphics producing utility, that can be used in conjunction with Python.
