Sept 23 - Notes on finite field arithmetic in rijndael (AES) have been posted on the "handouts" page.
Sept 23 - Notes on modular arithmetic, groups, and finite fields have been posted on the "handouts" page. This material will be used during the discussion of AES and public-key cryptography.
Sept 14 - DES will be covered in class next week. Please download the FIPS specification of DES from the NIST Cryptographic Toolkit, read it over, and bring it to class on Monday, Sept. 20.
