Winter 2014

Instructor

The instructor for the Winter 2014 offering of CPSC 441 is Carey Williamson.

I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. I am also currently serving as Head for the Department of Computer Science (July 2010 to June 2015). Only 1.5 more years to go!

My research interests include computer networks and computer systems performance evaluation. I am currently supervising or co-supervising 6 graduate students (2 PhD and 4 MSc) within the Networks Research Group.

Contact Information

The best way to reach me, day or night, is via email: carey@cpsc.ucalgary.ca

If you are emailing me, please put "CPSC 441" somewhere in the subject line of your email if you can, so that I can prioritize its handling. As a department head, I get a LOT of email on a daily basis, so please make it easy for me to find the important ones (yours!).

My normal office location for teaching and research activities is ICT 736, on the 7th floor of the ICT building. I will plan to be there during CPSC 441 office hours each week.

I also have an administrative office as Head in ICT 602C. You can find me there the rest of the week (Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm), though you should probably make an appointment first, and check in with the receptionist in the CPSC main office (ICT 602) when you arrive.

My phone number is (403) 220-6780. This automatically rings in both of my offices.

My scheduled office hours for CPSC 441 are Monday afternoons, right after class, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Meetings at other times can also be arranged, by appointment. I am also pretty good at responding to emails.
