CPSC 333: Description of Fifth ERD

Location: [Back to the Lecture Notes] Description of Fifth ERD

This page was most recently modified on January 21, 1997

One piece of this diagram has been shown already. In particular, the supertype ``Course'' and its subtypes, ``Pass/Fail Course'' and ``Graded Course,'' are drawn as previously shown.

There is an associative object called ``Completion'' that connects the subtype ``Graded Course'' to ``Student,'' and there is another associative object called ``Participation'' that connects the subtype ``Graded Course'' to ``Student.''

To see how associative objects are drawn, see the ERD for Version 4, which includes an associative object called ``Completion'' linking ``Student'' to a weak entity called ``Course Section.''
